As one of the most politically and economically stable countries in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, Costa Rica attracts thousands of refugees seeking protection. Costa Rica currently hosts more than 241,000 refugees and asylum seekers, with 83% of displaced people originating from Nicaragua. Others come from Venezuela, El Salvador, Colombia, and Honduras.
